Motorcyclist Injured After Accident on Highway 99

A 25-year-old male sustained major injuries shortly after a traffic accident that happened on Highway 99 in Merced County.

The Livingston man was traveling south on Highway 99 on a 2018 Kawasaki Tuesday evening. Authorities reported that the motorcycle hit speeds upwards of 80 mph.

The California Highway Patrol suspects the rider did not notice the slowing traffic until it was too late. As a result, the man hit the back of a 2018 Lexus Coupe just north of Westside Boulevard in Winton.

Around 8 p.m. the rider was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Modesto for treatment. Meanwhile, authorities reported that the Lexus driver was unharmed.
