5 Freeway Crash Involving Motorcycle in Del Mar 

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a motorcycle accident that occurred in Del Mar Heights on Monday.

It was just before 12:30 p.m. when a motorcycle and sedan collided within the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway.

The crash took place in San Diego County on August 15th. 

Due to the impact, the rider sustained unspecified injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police also issued a SigAlert due to traffic congestion. 

An active investigation remains underway.

According to statistics, approximately 80% of accidents involving a motorcycle result in injuries or death.
