Car Collides with Motorcycle on I-405 Freeway 

A motorcycle accident took place in Torrance on Friday morning, November 19th. 

The crash was reported near Artesia Boulevard just before 6:30 a.m, per CHP. 

Due to the impact, the motorcyclist went down in the HOV lane after colliding with a Hyuandi Accent. 

Two vehicles also stopped to help by blocking the carpool lane to prevent any oncoming vehicles from running the rider over. 

Torrance Firefighters arrived at the scene to provide aid to the motorcyclist. 

In addition, tow trucks were also used to remove both the car and motorcycle from the scene. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

According to statistics, approximately 80% of accidents involving a motorcycle result in injuries or death. 

Motorcycle accidents, according to the NHTSA, accounted for 14% of motor vehicle accident deaths in 2019. Motorcyclists should be fully aware of the safety challenges in which they face while riding on roads in California. Below are some tips for motorcyclists:

• Ride responsibly 
• Be knowledgeable and practice how to properly operate a motorcycle 
• Ensure you are licensed prior to operating a motorcycle
