Woman In Jacksonville Hurt in Crash

Illinois State Police has reported that two people, including a Morgan County Sheriff’s deputy, received minor injuries during a crash on Interstate 72 close to the Alexander exit, which is about 15 miles west of Springfield.

A truck pulled a goose neck livestock trailer that was driven by Cody A. Hadden, the 21-year-old man from Jacksonville, which was traveling in the left lane of eastbound Interstate 72 around 7:23 am when the truck hit the car’s rear that had slowed down because of an earlier crash.

The car, which was driven by Dottie M. Duffy, the 34-year-old from Jacksonville, then went on to hit an unoccupied Secretary of State police vehicle. A Morgan County Deputy, who was assisting there with the previous crash, was struck by the Secretary of State Police vehicle.

The deputy was transported with minor injuries to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Hadden was booked for failure to reduce speed to prevent an accident and following too closely and Duffy was taken with minor injuries to the Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
