Two Hospitalized in Highway 132 Head-On Crash
Investigators are working to determine fault regarding a head-on collision in Modesto on Wednesday night.
The accident occurred at 8:20 p.m. on Highway 132 at Paradise Road.
Per CHP, a Toyota Corolla collided head-on with an Acura TL, causing one of the vehicles to go off the roadway into a field.
Another vehicle also ended up blocking the roadway following the crash. In addition, one of the drivers was lying in the roadway and another pinned inside of the car as a result.
Two ground ambulances and an air ambulance responded to the scene to tend to those two seriously injured.

Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. They may only account for 2% of accidents, however they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.
The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) has found that:
- 75% of head-on crashes happen in rural areas
- They are most common on two-lane highways
- Failure in negotiating a curve on the road causes 23% of all fatal head-on collisions
- 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality
