Michael Amie Arrested Following Traffic Accident at Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue
A DUI Collision left two women with major injuries in Modesto on early Sunday morning.
The accident occurred at 12:30 a.m. on January 16th in the area of Carver Road and Briggsmore Avenue.
Witnesses reported that a Chevrolet Camaro was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it ran a red light.
As a result, the Camaro struck an eastbound Nissan Maxima.
A 35-year-old female passenger in the Camaro had to be extricated from the vehicle and suffered major injuries.
In addition, the driver of the Nissan, a 69-year-old woman, suffered major injuries.
47-year-old Michael Amie, the Camaro driver, was left unharmed and arrested on suspicion of DUI.
An active investigation is underway.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
