Michael Benson Arrested on DUI Charge That Left 2 Children Injured
Two vehicles collided on Tuesday night as the result of an intoxicated driver in Arroyo Grande, CA.
The crash took place on August 17th in the 1200 block of Ash Street.
According to police, two vehicles collided, causing one to overturn. Two unidentified children were also injured.
Michael Benson, 27, was the driver of the overturned vehicle. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and child endangerment and was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail following the accident.
Both children were passengers in Benson’s vehicle and they sustained minor injuries.
No further details have been released regarding the other party.
The crash is actively under investigation.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
