Deadly DUI Accident on Campus Avenue 

An unidentified person was killed as the result of an impaired driver in Upland on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at 11:43 a.m. on May 3rd on Campus Avenue. 

It was reported that 29-year-old Marcos Enriquez was speeding before crashing into another vehicle.

Due to the impact, the second driver sadly died. 

It was discovered that Enriquez was under the influence at the time of the accident and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. 

Campus Avenue was shut down for several hours as investigators worked at the scene. 

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
