Man Killed on 5 Freeway in Sun Valley
The accident involving a 2003 Lexus IS300 and a BMW 325i happened around 1 a.m. near Sheldon Street. The Lexus was traveling at high speed when the driver lost control and struck the BMW that was also traveling southbound.
“The driver of the Lexus was unable to maintain the vehicle in its lane,” according to a CHP statement. “The left side of the Lexus struck the right side of a BMW 325i traveling on I-5 southbound south of Sheldon Street in the No. 2 lane, then veered to the right.”
A passenger in the Lexus was ejected from the vehicle upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Lexus suffered minor injuries. She was later arrested on suspicion of DUI. The 39-year-old Beverly Hills man driving the BMW was not hurt.
