Pedestrian Hit & Injured by Vehicle at Chester and McCord Avenues
Major injuries were sustained following a pedestrian accident in Bakersfield on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on February 8th.
According to CHP, an unidentified vehicle struck the victim at the intersection of North Chester and McCord Avenues.
The pedestrian was rushed to Kern Medical Center with major injuries. Their condition and identity is unknown at this time.
An active investigation is underway.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.

- Avoid distractions (use of headphones, cell phone)
- Obey traffic laws & signals
- Always use crosswalk
