Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash Reported in Whittier

53-year-old Lorraine Naranjo fell victim to a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Whittier Sunday night. 

The incident took place at the intersection of Leffingwell Road and Corley Drive. 

A Mercedes struck the woman in the roadway as she was crossing around 10 p.m. and fled the scene. 

Sadly, Naranjo died at the scene despite life-saving efforts by paramedics. 

Detectives are actively searching for the suspect. They also found the vehicle two miles from the scene abandoned. 

An active investigation remains underway.
