Man Killed in Big Rig Accident on 91 Freeway

57-year-old Jorge Sanchez Esparza, of Santa Ana, was killed in an accident in Long Beach.

The crash occurred Sunday morning on June 5th around 1 a.m.

Bryan Tostado, 25, was speeding in a Toyota in the eastbound lanes of the 91 Freeway at the time of the crash.

As a result, his vehicle collided with the center divider then slammed into the back of Esparza’s big rig.

Due to the impact, Esparza lost control of the 2022 Freightliner and crashed off the side of the road. 

Sadly, the big rig driver was declared dead at the scene. 

Additionally, Tostado was treated for minor injuries at Dignity Health-St. Mary Medical. He was also arrested on unspecific charges. 

The crash remains under investigation.
