Fatal Collision Involving Semi-Truck Kills Infant

Investigators are working to determine the cause of a fatal head-on collision that occurred in San Bernardino County on Monday night.

Reports included that the accident took place around 8:15 p.m. on February 21st.

A pickup truck and semi reportedly collided head-on for unknown reasons.

Sadly, as a result, a 10-month-old from Helendale died at the scene. He has been identified as Liam Gonzalez.

Two others were also left with major injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Crews shut down the area for hours for investigation and cleanup purposes.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Liam Gonzalez.

It is most often those in passenger cars that are killed in large truck collisions. Semi trucks typically weigh 20-30 times as much as passenger cars which leaves occupants of smaller cars more vulnerable.

According to the D.O.T., in 2019 67% of fatal collisions involving large trucks were occupants of a passenger car.
