Fatal Collision on Craig Road

Two vehicles collided in Las Vegas on Monday morning, resulting in the death of one unidentified man.

According to reports, a Chevrolet Cruz rear-ended a Ford F-350 pickup just after 6:30 a.m. at a stoplight.

The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes on Craig Road and North 5th Street.

Due to the impact, the driver of the Cruz died at the scene.

Authorities also shut down the eastbound lanes until 10 a.m. pending cleanup and investigation.

Police reported that speed was a factor in the collision.

An active investigation is underway.

According to the NHTSA, nearly 2.5 million rear-end collisions are reported each year in the U.S. More specifically, they are responsible for 28% of all crashes.

In addition, rear-end collisions account for 950,000 injuries and 2,000 deaths each year.

These types of crashes are often the result of distracted and reckless driving.
