Juan Carlos Rodriguez Fatal Sacramento Accident

Juan Carlos Enriquez Rodriguez, 33, and his younger brother, Lionel Enriquez Rodriguez, were both struck and killed on the Interstate 5 Freeway in Sacramento.

The fatal crash occurred about 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6th, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.

The California Highway Patrol reported the younger brother’s Dodge pickup truck became disabled on the left shoulder of the freeway’s Sutterville Road on ramp. His brother Juan Carlos came to help him and stopped his maroon Toyota SUV nearby. Both men exited their vehicles and were standing on the left side of the pickup truck. Meanwhile, an on-duty Sacramento police detective in a Ford Fusion sedan struck the back of the truck. The truck crashed into both pedestrians, according to The Sacramento Bee and KCRA News.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez, of Sacramento, and Lionel Rodriguez, of Simi Valley, both died following the crash.

The CHP reported the detective stopped and called for help. Investigators closed down the southbound lanes of the Interstate 5 Freeway and they are working to determine fault for the crash.
