Highway 99E Collision Results in Death of Gridley Man
The identity of the man who was killed on May 13th in Tehama County has been identified as Jose Nazarro Arellano, 52.
Arellano was involved in a hit-and-run collision that took place just before 3 p.m. that day on Highway 99E.
Rebecca Ann Bryant, 46, was driving northbound before attempting to pass vehicles.
Bryant drove into the southbound lanes to do so, right in the path of a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Alejandro Arellano, 49.
In an attempt to avoid Bryant’s vehicle, Arellano veered into the northbound lanes, causing a head-on collision with a Cadillac El Dorado.
The driver of the Cadillac, ID’d as Felton Price III, 49, of Chico, sustained major injuries as a result.
He was rushed to Enloe Medical Center for treatment.
Unfortunately, the passenger in the Malibu, Jose Nazarro Arellano, died at the scene.
Alejandra Arellano suffered major injuries and was also taken to Enloe Medical Center.
It was also reported that Bryant fled the scene and was later located and arrested on suspicion of felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
An active investigation is underway.
