21-Year-Old Man Dies in Highway 168 Car Accident

Two vehicles collided in Fresno County on New Year’s Day, resulting in the death of 21-year-old Jesus Meza-Leyva.

The fatal crash occurred around 8:15 p.m. on January 1st on State Route 168.

Per CHP, Leyva was traveling westbound in a Toyota MR2 before losing control.

As a result, the man crossed directly into the path of an eastbound Toyota Tacoma that was traveling at about 45 mph.

Despite attempting to avoid a collision, the Tacoma crashed into the right door of the Toyota MR2.

Unfortunately, the 21-year-old man died at the scene of the crash after suffering major injuries.

Neither drugs or alcohol were suspected to have played a factor in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
