The victim, 23-year-old Jazmine Floris, known as “Jay,” was tragically killed in a hit-and-run crash in Stockton on Thursday night, October 24, 2024. Jay was accompanied by her service dog, as they walked near Delta College at Pacific and West Yokuts Avenue when the incident occurred.
The suspect, Jamaraqui Burks, was allegedly driving erratically before striking Jay and leaving the scene. Despite the efforts of emergency crews, Jay succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. A witness reported the suspect’s reckless behavior, leading to charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.
