Hesperia Head-On Collision Left Javon Williams Dead

A fatal head-on collision claimed the life of one person in the early hours of Monday, August 16th.

According to reports, the crash took place at about 2:24 a.m. at Hesperia Road and Mojave Street in Hesperia, CA.

In addition, the crash involved a 2019 Nissan Versa and a gray 2005 Honda Civic.

It is unclear what led to the crash, however several people were left with injuries.

Javon Williams along with three others were extricated by firefighters from a vehicle. Williams, a 29-year-old passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three were airlifted to various trauma centers which were out of the area.

Both roads were shut down for multiple hours immediately following the collision.

Investigators are actively seeking to determine liability. Anybody with information on the crash is advised to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. This is because the force from colliding head-on is unlike any other. While they may only account for 2% of accidents, they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.

The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) has found that:

  • 75% of head-on crashes happen in rural areas
  • They are most common on two-lane highways
  • Failure in negotiating a curve on the road causes 23% of all fatal head-on collisions
  • 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality
