Jacob McPherson Arrested for DUI Crash

A deadly crash occurred on Thursday night in Sacramento on Highway 99.

The fatal collision took place on September 17th and involved a stolen vehicle according to authorities.

Jacob McPherson, 34, was driving a stolen Honda Accord on Calvine Road while under the influence. Due to the vehicle being stolen, McPherson was also chased by police.

McPherson reportedly entered the wrong-way on southbound Highway 99 and collided head-on with another vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

A male passenger who was in the vehicle with McPherson was pronounced dead at the scene and has yet to be ID’d pending notification of kin.

Jacob McPherson was taken into custody immediately after the collision by the Elk Grove Police.

Although crashes involving wrong-way driving account for only 3% of motor vehicle accidents, they usually have a higher fatality rate as they are often head-on collisions.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may also be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
