Injuries After Hit-and-Run Reported in Colton, CA

One person was killed after a pedestrian accident that occurred on Interstate 215, also known as Riverside Freeway, Monday evening.

The California Highway Patrol group reported a female party stepped out of their vehicle while traveling in the northbound side of the freeway. The unidentified woman then ran across the lanes of the interstate at Iowa Avenue in Colton.

Shortly after 10:20 p.m., a passing Ford Explorer hit the female party. The force from the impact resulted in serious injuries to the victim. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and died. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, the CHP log mentioned the man behind the wheel of the Ford Explorer continue driving after the catastrophic incident. No immediate information on the hit-and-run suspect.

Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate several factors surrounding the collision.
