Imperial Beach Crash Results in Two Injured

Mother & Child Hurt in DUI Collision

An impaired driver struck two bicyclists in Imperial Beach Tuesday evening, May 24th.

Reports included that the accident took place just before 8:15 at the intersection of 11th Street and Fern Avenue.

A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 78-year-old, hit a mother and child who were riding their bikes.

Investigators discovered that the driver was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident.

They were booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

Additionally, the mother suffered major injuries and the child minor injuries. Both were hospitalized for treatment.

An active investigation is underway.

Similar to motorcyclists, bicyclists are just as vulnerable on the roads. According to the NHTSA, 30% of bicycle accident injuries occur when hit by a vehicle.

Because of the various dangers bicyclists face on the road, it is important that they possess all protection equipment.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation.
