29-Year-Old Homeless Woman Was The Victim Of a Fatal Pedestrian Accident on October 6th
The incident took place on Mission Boulevard around 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the driver struck the woman who walked into oncoming traffic in the 1700 block.
Paramedics responded to find Vega lying on the ground and she was unfortunately pronounced dead shortly after.
The involved motorist also stopped and was fully cooperative with authorities.
Additionally, both lanes of Mission Boulevard were closed down between Curran Place and Oak Avenue following the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
