Wrong-Way Collision on U.S. 95
A wrong-way driver was arrested on Sunday morning after causing a collision in Henderson, Nevada.
The traffic accident took place on January 30th around 6:30 a.m. on the U.S. 95 near Auto Show Drive.
The driver was reportedly headed south in a GMC on the wrong side of the road when they hit a Dodge SUV.
Police ended up arresting the GMC driver for suspicion of impairment in addition to other charges.
Emergency personnel also transported the driver of the Dodge to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
Although crashes involving wrong-way driving account for only 3% of motor vehicle accidents, they usually have a higher fatality rate as they are often head-on collisions. A study in Virginia concluded that those accidents which include wrong-way driving are twenty-seven times more likely to end in a fatality compared to other types of accidents.
