15-Year-Old Boy Hit & Killed by Vehicle in Victorville
A teenage boy was struck by a vehicle and killed on Monday afternoon in Victorville.
Authorities have arrested 29-year-old Hector Loaeza who fled the scene after hitting the 15-year-old on December 6th.
The incident occurred just after 2 p.m. on Fifth Street, near C Street.
Per reports, Loaeza was traveling south when he hit the boy who was riding his bike westbound across C Street.
The driver did not stop at the scene and was later found, arrested & booked on suspicion of DUI causing death.
Loaeza was also charged with hit and run causing death, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The boy was sadly pronounced dead at 3:19 p.m. while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
In addition, the collision resulted in multiple road closures for a period of time.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
