Collision in Chico Left one Injured

A head-on collision occurred Thursday morning, August 19th on Hamilton Nord Cana Highway.

The Chino crash happened at about 11:37 a.m. and left one person moderately injured.

According to CHP reports, a Dodge Ram pickup that was towing a trailer collided head-on with a Kia Forte. This was the result of one of the vehicles veering into the path of the other.

Both vehicles were also blocking the roadway following the collision.

Additionally, one person’s leg was trapped inside of their vehicle, thus causing them to be rushed to the hospital via ambulance.

The individual suffered moderate injuries as a result. It isn’t clear whether or not anybody else was injured.

No names have been released of the parties involved. Authorities are also actively investigating the collision.

Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. They may only account for 2% of accidents, however they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.

The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) has found that:

  • 75% of head-on crashes happen in rural areas
  • They are most common on two-lane highways
  • Failure in negotiating a curve on the road causes 23% of all fatal head-on collisions
  • 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality
