17-Year-Old Girl Was Killed In A Single-Vehicle Crash In Thomas County In Northwest Kansas

Reata Pinkerton, the 17-year-old from Russell Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was reported at 11:59 am at the intersection of County Road 11 and County Road H, which is about 10 miles south of the Levant community. The patrol said Reata was not wearing a seat belt. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a 2004 Hyundai Elantra was southbound on CR 11 when it left the roadway to the right and Reata over-corrected. The vehicle then came back across the roadway and entered the east ditch and rolled an unknown count of times before coming to rest in a stubble field.
