Highway 180 Accident Leaves Woman with Major Injuries

A traffic accident left a woman with major injuries in Fresno on Sunday morning, May 8th.

Reports included that a Chevy truck was rear-ended by a Chevy Cruze as it was stopped at a red light on Chestnut Avenue.

The wreck took place around 1:45 a.m.

Both occupants of the truck exited the vehicle to speak with the other driver when a Lexus struck the female passenger.

The woman was sent 15 feet from the point of impact as a result.

Her head and upper torso sustained major injuries and she was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

It was also discovered that the driver of the Lexus and Chevy Cruze were impaired at the time of the accident.

Both were arrested on DUI charges. They have been ID’d as Lanian Lee, 36, and Cornelio Cedillo Ramirez, 50.

An active investigation is underway.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may also be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
