Fatal Semi-Truck Accident in Fowler

26-year-old Malik Blakeney died after his vehicle collided with a semi-truck in Fowler on Monday evening.

The collision took place at the intersection of Temperance Avenue and North Avenue on January 10th, around 6 p.m.

CHP reported that Blakeney was traveling north in a Hyundai when he failed to stop at a stop sign.

As a result, he went directly into the path of a semi which struck the right passenger door of Blakeney’s vehicle.

The Hyuandi veered into an orchard nearby and sadly died at the scene.

In addition, the 58-year-old truck driver suffered no injuries.

Authorities also shut down the area for a period of time pending cleanup and investigation.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Malik Blakeney.

Statistics have shown that approximately 70% of motor-vehicle accidents are a result of stop sign violations. These accidents often happen at an angle rather than head on and about one-third result in some sort of injury.

Although stop signs are in place to prevent accidents, unfortunately not everyone adheres. This is why it is essential to always pay attention and avoid any distractions on the road.
