Two-Vehicle Collision Results in Death on Lewis Street

A deadly car accident was reported in Orange, CA on Monday morning, September 19th. 

The Orange Police Department reported that the crash occurred at 9:13 a.m. at Lewis Street and Metropolitan Drive. 

An SUV was traveling west when it ran through a red light at the intersection, causing a collision with a pickup truck. 

Upon impact, the truck hit a signal pole and rolled over onto its side.

First responders rushed the truck driver to the hospital where he sadly died due to his injuries. He has only been ID’d as a 39-year-old Orange resident. 

The other driver was fully cooperative with authorities and did not report any injuries. 

An active investigation remains underway.

Statistics from 2019 show that 846 people were killed in crashes that involved running a red light and about 143,000 people were injured.
