Deadly Traffic Collision on 118 Freeway 

Two people suffered injuries and one other was killed on the 118 Freeway in Mission Hills on Monday morning. 

The fatal accident took place at 7:30 a.m. within the westbound lanes on January 24th. 

Per reports, a sedan was hit by a cargo truck while the driver of the sedan had pulled over on the right shoulder to change a tire. 

One person had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters and another sadly died at the scene. 

Two unidentified men were also transported to a hospital after sustaining major injuries. 

Authorities shut down multiple lanes of the freeway for a period of time following the accident. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
