16-Year-Old Died in Menifee Crash
A 16-year-old Menifee girl died and four others suffered injuries in a solo-vehicle crash on Old Newport Road in Menifee.
The collision occurred about 6:230 p.m. on Dec. 11th, just east of Bristol Gate Lane, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The five teenagers were traveling together in a Tesla eastbound on Old Newport Road. The driver reportedly lost control, hit a curb and a tree before it crashed into a brick wall, according to the Press Enterprise and Menifee police department.
Clarissa Lewis, 16, was a passenger in the Tesla and died at the scene about 6:34 p.m., according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
Meanwhile, paramedics responded and found two others from the vehicle with serious injuries, one with a moderate injury and another with a minor injury, according to Cal Fire Riverside.
Investigators are piecing together what happened and will determine fault for the collision. It’s unknown if road conditions, weather or other factors contributed to or caused the wreck.
The investigation by the Menifee Police Department is ongoing.
