Rear-End Accident Results in Death on Highway 20

A pickup truck rear-ended a passenger car in Clear Lake on Sunday night, resulting in the death of one person. 

The fatal crash occurred just minutes before midnight on Sunday night, January 16th.

It is unclear at this time what caused the collision on Highway 20, near 1st Avenue. 

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of kin. 

Investigators are actively working to determine what may have factored into the collision.

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
