DUI Driver Causes Fatal Rear-End Collision in Palm Springs

An impaired driver caused a fatal traffic accident in Palm Springs on Saturday, July 30th.

The collision took place just minutes after 9 p.m. at the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Sunrise Way.

It was reported that the DUI driver’s vehicle rear-ended Erik Verdian’s vehicle as it was stopped.

This caused a chain-reaction with two other vehicles at the intersection.

Sadly, Verdian, 31, of Burbank, died at the scene and his passenger suffered major injuries.

The impaired driver, Kevin Atteberry, was also left with major injuries.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Erik Verdian.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
