51-Year-Old Woman & 44-Year-Old Man Killed in I-8 Freeway Crash

Two people lost their lives on Saturday morning due to a car accident in El Cajon. 

The collision took place on February 12th at 6:18 a.m. on the I-8 Freeway.

Per reports, a black sedan and white pickup truck collided within the westbound lanes. 

Claudia Jeanne Hefley, 51, was a back seat passenger in one of the vehicles that overturned upon impact. 

Both vehicles ended up in an embankment and one of the male drivers was trapped inside of the vehicle. 

Sadly, both Hefley and the 44-year-old man died at the scene of the crash. 

The crash remains under investigation. 

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019. 

In the U.S. one’s odds of dying in a car accident is around 1 in 107.
