One person was left hospitalized following a DUI accident early Thursday morning.

The collision took place on October 28th in Calabasas on Highway 101, per reports.

Two vehicles collided in the northbound lanes at around 3:27 a.m. near the Parkway Calabasas off-ramp.

A GMC 1500 van along with a dually panel truck were the two vehicles involved.

When firefighters responded to the scene, they shut down the 1, 2, 3 & 4 lanes in addition.

As a result of the impact one person was left with major injuries and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The truck also sustained major rear-end damage, whereas the van sustained major front-end damage.

CHP reported that the accident was caused by an under the influence driver.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
