Gonzalo Bustamante-Ruiz Arrested in DUI Crash
A DUI collision resulted in the injuries of three people in Modesto on Tuesday night.
The crash occurred at 5:38 p.m. on December 21st, on South Ninth Street.
Per reports, a Dodge Ram which was hauling a trailer pulled over on the shoulder.
An oncoming Honda Accord drifted to the right and slammed into the back of the trailer, crashing into the window, causing the trailer to go low to the ground.
All three occupants of the Dodge Ram sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
In addition, Gonzalo Bustamante-Ruiz, 58, the driver of the Honda, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
