Pedestrian Accident near Hewes Middle School
An unidentified Hewes Middle School student was struck by a vehicle on Friday morning.
The incident occurred on January 7th at 8:23 a.m. on Foothill Boulevard.
Per CHP, a black Subaru struck the student in Orange County, California.
The driver stopped at the scene and transported the student to the nurses office following the accident.
Unspecified injuries were sustained and the Orange County Fire Authority also responded at the scene to provide aid.
It is unclear at this time if the student was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
