Interstate 80 Collision Results in Death & Injuries

A rear-end collision resulted in a death and multiple injuries on Tuesday morning in Dixon, California.

The incident occurred on May 10th just before 7 a.m. on Interstate 80.

60-year-old Sergio Reyes, of Elk Grove, was driving westbound in a Ford F-450 at the time of the crash.

As Reyes slowed for traffic, a Ford F-650 rear-ended his vehicle.

Following that collision, the Ford F-650 then sideswiped a Volvo tractor-trailer.

Reyes and his passenger, Willie Reyes, 26, suffered minor injuries. There were also two others in the vehicle that suffered minor injuries as well, one ID’d as Roberto Saldana, 60.

Sadly, the driver of the F-650 died at the scene. The passenger, ID’d as Adrian Flores, 28, sustained major injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to the NHTSA, nearly 2.5 million rear-end collisions are reported each year in the U.S. More specifically, they are responsible for 28% of all crashes.

In addition, rear-end collisions account for 950,000 injuries and 2,000 deaths each year.

These types of crashes are often the result of distracted and reckless driving.
