Serious Injury Crash on Road 64 and Highway 201

A DUI crash involving a big rig left one person with serious injuries on Thursday afternoon.

CHP reported that the accident occurred at 2:48 p.m. on Road 64 and Highway 201.

A Ford Focus collided with a semi-truck under unclear circumstances, causing major front-end damage to the Ford. 

In addition, the semi’s two rear axles were damaged.

It was also discovered that the driver of the Ford was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They were rushed to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with major injuries.

The driver of the semi stayed at the scene and was fully cooperative with authorities.

An active investigation remains underway.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
