64-Year-Old Man Dies as the Result of Speeding Driver
Two–vehicles collided head-on in San Bernardino on Rialto Avenue as the result of a speeding driver.
Per reports, Jose Villegas Olvera was traveling east when Bobby Ray Foster was speeding west in his Mercedes-Benz.
Foster reportedly lost control of his vehicle, causing him to cross into oncoming traffic and collide with Olvera.
Upon impact, both Foster and Olvera were ejected from their vehicles and the Benz split in half.
The crash occurred on December 12th around 2 a.m.
Sadly, Olvera was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol was believed to have factored into the collision; however, it remains under investigation.
According to the NHTSA, speeding was a contributing factor in 26% of traffic accidents that resulted in death(s) in 2018. The dangers of speeding include:
- Loss of control of vehicle
- Increase in crash severity
- Increase in fuel consumption and/or cost
- Reduces the effectiveness of protection equipment
