Elderly Woman Hit and Killed by Vehicle at Harris Road

An 82-year-old woman died following a pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of Harris Road and Manon Avenue, the KRON4 News reported.

Officials said a motorist was traveling in the streets of Hayward Wednesday morning. When the car entered the intersection at Harris and Manon, it struck an elderly woman walking in the roadway. The make and model of the car involved in the catastrophic incident have not been revealed thus far.

Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Hayward

According to the article published online, the crash took place at approximately 7:50 a.m. Emergency crews later responded to the incident. When rescue teams arrived, they found the victim trapped underneath the car. Firefighters worked extensively to pull out the woman from the wreckage. Medical personnel subsequently performed CPR to the victim, but she sadly succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the scene. Authorities continue to withhold the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities mentioned the driver fled the scene on foot but later returned. At this time, detectives continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the unfortunate event that happened at Harris Road and Manon Avenue in Hayward.
