Motorcyclist Killed on Old Highway 80
A Ford Focus and motorcycle collided on Friday morning in Live Oak Springs, resulting in the death of the rider.
The accident took place within the westbound lanes of Old Highway 80 just minutes after 5:30 a.m. on January 7th.
According to CHP, the driver of a Ford Focus first collided with the motorcyclist. Following that collision, the driver then struck the bike and rider after they were already down in the roadway.
Investigators are examining the two as separate collisions. It is also unclear if the rider died from the first or second crash.
In addition, the Ford Focus sustained moderate damage to its front-end and was removed from the scene with a tow truck.
The crash remains under investigation.
