64-Year-Old Man Struck & Killed by Vehicle 

An unidentified man died after being hit by a car on Monday evening, December 6th, in Wilmington. 

The incident occurred at Banning Boulevard and Anaheim Street at 5:30 p.m.

According to reports, a driver traveling eastbound on Anaheim Street hit the man and fled the scene.

Emergency personnel arrived and rushed the man to a local hospital where he ended up dying as the result of his injuries.

An active investigation is underway. 

According to statistics, 20% of pedestrian fatalities include fleeing drivers. In addition, 68% of those killed in hit-and-run crashes are pedestrians and bicyclists.
