Danny Oster, 74, Injured in San Luis Obispo County Fatal Crash on Highway 58

A fatal crash left Danny Oster injured on Highway 58 in San Luis Obispo County.

The California Highway Patrol identified the 74-year-old man as the victim in the wreck which took place on Saturday.

The incident happened when Danny Oster was driving a 2021 Ford Raptor at around 35 mph north on Highway 58 in San Luis Obispo County. At the same time, a motorcyclist was going south.

For an unknown reason, the rider crossed over a set of double yellow lines directly into the path of the car. The operator of the Harley Davidson, 52-year-old Peggy Masuda, then collided with the Ford.

CHP said the two crashed just north of West Pozo Road. The KSBY News wrote that the collision occurred on June 3 at about 1:46 p.m.

Danny Oster sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics arrived at the scene, evaluated and provided treatment to the patient.

Meanwhile, Peggy Masuda ended up suffering from serious injuries upon impact. Medical personnel rushed her to a hospital, where she soon died.

Meanwhile, officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 58 to shut down for a time following the wreck. The cause of the San Luis Obispo County crash is still under investigation.
