Dale Erskine, 55, Killed in Felton Crash Near Mount Hermon and Covenant

Dale Erskine was killed after a car crash near Mount Hermon Road and Covenant Lane in Felton.

The California Highway Patrol identified the 55-year-old Santa Cruz man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Sunday.

The incident happened when Dale Erskine was driving a 2007 Volkswagen Beetle east on Mount Hermon Road in Felton. At the same time, a 2019 Lexus RX350 was going west.

For an unknown reason, the Lexus crossed over into oncoming traffic. CHP said in the process, the car slammed head-on into the Volkswagen west of Covenant Lane.

The collision occurred on November 20 at about 4:28 p.m. Dale Erskine died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Lexus, 64-year-old Felton resident Menette Schults, sustained major injuries as a result of the accident. Paramedics rushed her to the Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Meanwhile, officers forced a stretch of Mount Hermon to shut down for a time near Covenant following the wreck. The cause of the Felton crash is still under investigation.
