Bicyclist Killed While Crossing Lanes

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified a bicyclist who was killed trying to ride across the southbound lanes of Interstate 280 near the Highway 101 interchange as 27-year-old Juan Perez Lopez.

This incident occurred on November 28 at about 9:45 p.m. before heavy rain associated from the big storm last week began to fall.

CHP Officer Ross Lee said the deceased climbed over a guardrail from the right and then lifted his bike over the guardrail and started riding across the lanes of traffic, toward the median. He was immediately hit by a woman driving a black Acura. Lee said the female driver tried to avoid him but couldn’t.
