Traffic Collision at Byron Highway and Camino Diablo
CHP reported a fatal traffic accident in Contra Costa Wednesday evening, June 15th.
Two vehicles collided around 5:40 p.m. on Byron Highway under unclear circumstances.
Due to the impact, one of the vehicles veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole.
One of the vehicles also became engulfed in flames and one person sadly died as a result of their injuries.
Fire crews put out the fire which caused a closure in both directions of the highway.
Investigators are actively working to determine liability.
In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
