Christopher Winters Arrested for Paso Robles Hit-and-Run

Authorities arrested Christopher Winters, 32, after a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Paso Robles.

Police identified the Paso Robles man as the suspect in the fatal collision which took place on Saturday morning.

The incident began when a gray vehicle struck a male pedestrian near Meadowlark Road and Deer Spring Drive in Paso Robles. The driver failed to stop to help the victim and fled east on Meadowlark.

Authorities said Christopher Winters driving a black BMW south approached after some time and ran over the 22-year-old man in the roadway. He also did not stop to render aid and left the area.

According to news reports, the collision happened at around 1:40 a.m. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found the pedestrian lying unresponsive on the ground.

Medical personnel soon pronounced him dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, police later located the BMW in the 900 block of Running Stag Way at around 4 a.m. They soon arrested Christopher Winters on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

Authorities ultimately booked the suspect at the San Luis Obispo County Jail. The Paso Robles hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
