Two-Vehicle Traffic Collision at Etiwanda and Santa Ana Avenue
An impaired driver caused a collision in Fontana on Saturday, April 30th.
The accident occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Etiwanda and Santa Ana Avenue.
The DUI motorist was driving south in a Toyota Camry when it swerved into opposing traffic and collided with a vehicle stopped at a red light.
A 3-year-old and 1-year-old who were passengers in the Toyota were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police also arrested the driver of the Toyota for DUI and child endangerment.
An active investigation is underway.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
